Project Update – September 27, 2021
What’s Happening in Traffic This Week
REMINDER: Partial Closure on Lower Springbank Road
A portion of Lower Springbank Road will be closed just south of Township Road 242 for approximately two weeks as part of 17 Avenue S.W. interchange construction. Township Road 242 will re-open at the same time.
The closure is anticipated to begin early this week but is weather dependent. Please watch for signage in the area.
All work is weather dependent. Please check 511 Alberta and The City of Calgary’s traffic information map for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions.
We appreciate your patience during construction.
Meet in the Middle
The last segment between the two piers on the north side of the river has been poured.
South Side Piers
One of the two piers on the south side of the river is complete and formwork for the pier segments is being constructed. The rebar and formwork for the top of the second pier is in place.
August Progress Snapshot
Despite August being the wettest month of the year so far, construction crews worked over 40,000 hours, taking full advantage of the temperatures and daylight hours that wane as fall approaches.

Once the north end of 109 Street S.W. and the new Crestmont Boulevard S.W. are connected to the existing Crestmont Boulevard S.W. and Valley Ridge Boulevard N.W., traffic will be shifted onto the new roads.
MSE Wall
A Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall is being constructed on the south side of the on-ramp to eastbound Trans-Canada Highway, which goes under the ramp bridge for traffic heading to Stoney Trail.
