Project Update – March 8, 2021

What’s Happening in Traffic This Week

Crestmont Boulevard S.W. Single Lane

On Tuesday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Crestmont Boulevard S.W. will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic for utility construction on the north side of the road. A flagger will be present to direct traffic.

Trans-Canada Highway Reduced to One Lane Nightly

Every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., March 9 to 15, the Trans-Canada Highway will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at the Stoney Trail interchange. The lane closures are needed for bridge girder installation. Delays are expected.

Southbound Stoney Trail Reduced to One Lane

From Sunday, March 7 to Friday, March 12, each night between 7 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., lane closures will be in place on southbound Stoney Trail to modify overhead signs. Up to two lanes will be closed in four locations between Country Hills Boulevard N.W. and Nose Hill Drive N.W. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h and motorists should expect delays.

Equipment Crossing 17 Avenue S.W.

Temporary traffic signals have been installed on 17 Avenue S.W., just east of 101 Street S.W., to allow construction vehicles and equipment to cross north-south.

All work is weather dependent. Please check 511 Albertaand The City of Calgary’s traffic information map  for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions. For all other project information, please visit westringroad.ca

Coming Out of Hibernation

At the end of 2020, the form travelers were being assembled on the north bridge piers to start pouring concrete for the cast-in-place pier segments. As winter temperatures aren’t ideal for pouring concrete and a baseline hadn’t been established with pours in more appropriate weather, the decision was made to resume bridge construction this spring.

Check out this video for a quick recap of everything accomplished on the Bow River Bridge project in 2020. You can also view all project updates at westringroad.ca > staying informed > project updates.
