Project Update – January 25, 2020
What’s Happening in Traffic This Week
Crestmont Boulevard S.W.
Single lane alternating traffic remains in effect until mid-February for utility work. Old Banff Coach Road S.W. can be used as an alternative route.
Nighttime lane closures on Stoney Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway
Every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., January 27 to 29, there will be shifting lane closures at the Trans-Canada Highway/Stoney Trail interchange. The lane closures are needed to remove snow from the shoulders for future survey work in the area.
All work is weather dependent. Please check 511 Albertaand The City of Calgary’s traffic information map for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions. For all other project information, please visit westringroad.ca.
We appreciate your patience during construction.
Stoney Trail Mainline
The expanded Trans-Canada Highway/Stoney Trail interchange includes seven new bridges. All but one are under construction.
Systems Interchange
A systems interchange provides free-flow movement from one highway to another highway. The Trans-Canada Highway / Stoney Trail interchange is a systems interchange. With so many movements at this location, the directional ramp from northbound Stoney Trail to westbound Trans-Canada Highway goes up and over the existing ramp, resulting in three road elevations.
