What’s Happening in Traffic

Shifting lane closures on Trans-Canada Highway at Valley Ridge Boulevard N.W.

On Monday, August 28, between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., there will be alternating lane closures on both eastbound and westbound Trans-Canada Highway at times reducing to one lane in either direction. Please expect delays and observe on site signage.

Tonight: Single lane of alternating traffic on Highway 8

Tonight, in the late evening, an overhead sign will be installed on Highway 8. For several hours starting around 9 p.m., Highway 8 will be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic. Please expect delays.

Wildlife Fence Installation

A wildlife fence, including a jump-out, is being installed in the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) between Valley Ridge and Stoney Trail. The fence is intended to keep animals away from the road, but if a larger animal finds itself trapped within the TUC fencing, a jump-out is ramp that allows the animal to escape from the fenced area to safety.

Bow River Pathway access is provided from Valley Glen Heights N.W. and from Valley Springs Road N.W. Please keep out of the TUC.

Old Banff Coach Road Median

Work to tie in the new Old Banff Coach Road lanes between Stoney Trail and 85 Street S.W. continues.

Overhead Sign Installations

A total of 23 overhead sign structures are being installed across the South project site. Each sign must leave six metres of vertical clearance between the surface of the road and the bottom of the sign. The signs are assembled on site, hoisted by crane and secured to concrete foundations using anchor bolts.
