Project Update – September 13, 2021

Partial Closure on Lower Springbank Road and Township Road 242 Re-opens

Starting Friday, September 17, 2021, a portion of Lower Springbank Road will be closed just south of Township Road 242 for approximately two weeks as part of 17 Avenue S.W. interchange construction. Township Road 242 will re-open at the same time.

This is the second stage of several detours that will be implemented in this area in the coming months. While efforts will be made to minimize traffic delays as much as possible, there is significant work to be completed. Traffic delays should be anticipated. Please plan accordingly.

Highway 8 & 101 Street S.W. Permanently Closed September 17

Reminder that the intersection of Highway 8 and 101 Street S.W. will permanently close this Friday, September 17, 2021.

All work is weather dependent. Please check 511 Alberta and The City of Calgary’s traffic information map  for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions.

We appreciate your patience during construction.

Highway 8 Interchange Construction

This week, interchange construction will begin in earnest with median crossover construction west of 69 Street S.W. (traffic operations will not be impacted). Median crossovers are paved sections used for detouring traffic from one carriageway to another.
