What’s Happening in Traffic This Week
UPCOMING: Highway 8 Traffic Shift Week of Monday, April 18
This week preparations for the traffic shift on Highway 8 will be underway. Some delays can be expected.
All work is weather dependant. Please check 511 Alberta and The City of Calgary’s traffic information map for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions.

South Pier Box Girder Segment
The first girder segment on the southernmost pier is almost complete. Shortly, a form traveler (a mobile set of forms used to shape the girder segments) will be installed and concrete pours for the cantilevered girder segments will begin.
March 14, 2022: Installing safety railings around the top slab on the box girder in preparation for the concrete pour March 30, 2022: Concrete curing under heating and hoarding tarps April 4, 2022: The concrete for the box girder’s top slab has cured and the tarps are removed April 8, 2022: Preparations for installing the form traveler are underway, including safety railings on the bottom slab of the girder

Highway 8 Flyover Bridge Abutments
The piles for the west abutment on the flyover bridge from northbound Stoney Trail to westbound Highway 8 are in the ground and abutment construction will begin next.
South of Highway 8
Earthworks is ongoing in the area south of the existing Highway 8 lanes.
