What’s Happening in Traffic This Week

Crestmont Boulevard S.W. – Single Lane of Alternating Traffic

On Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Crestmont Boulevard S.W. will operate as a single lane of alternating traffic.

All work is weather dependant. Please check 511 Alberta and The City of Calgary’s traffic information map for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions.

Northbound Stoney Trail Bridge

Construction on one of the last bridges started on the North project is progressing. This winter the bridge deck formwork and rebar have been installed in preparation for pouring the concrete as soon as temperatures warm up enough.

Overhead Sign Structures

Guide and information signs are a major element of the traffic control system. Most of us probably don’t give road signs much thought, but highway guide signs are highly engineered structures. Sign placement and height is precisely calculated to provide drivers with enough reaction time to read and respond, and the structure itself must withstand wind and ice loading. Highway signs can be attached to bridges, span the highway or be cantilevered over the road from a single structure.

Constructing the sign structures has begun along the Trans-Canada Highway.
