Stoney Trail Reduced to One Lane in Both Directions Nightly
The pier segments on the Bow River Bridge are being cast-in-place (as opposed to pre-cast concrete segments brought to site) using form travellers. The large and heavy form travellers (shown below) need to be moved from the north side of the Bow River to the south side. To minimize traffic disruptions, the work will happen in the evening and during the night in two stages:
January 17 – 21, 2022
Detour cross-over construction
- From 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night, the median lanes on northbound and southbound Stoney Trail will be closed and speed limits will be reduced
- Work will include removing sections of concrete barrier, paving and placing temporary barriers; adjacent residents may hear some noise
January 24 – February 5, 2022
Transporting the form travellers
- From 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night, Stoney Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction and speed limits will be reduced
- Southbound traffic will be detoured onto the northbound lanes to allow the trucks moving the form traveller equipment to use the southbound lanes
Thank you for your patience during construction.
