Traffic Changes at 101 Street S.W. & Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W.
October 12 – 16: 101 Street S.W. Temporarily Closed North of 17 Avenue S.W.
From 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, there will be no access to 101 Street S.W. from Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W. Crews will be working 24 hours a day to construct the new 101 Street S.W. alignment north of Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W.
Access to 101 Street S.W. north of Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W. will be provided at Old Banff Coach Road S.W. Access to 101 Street S.W. south of Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W. is unchanged.
Given the inevitable onset of winter and the distance from adjacent residences, overnight work was determined to be the fastest way to complete the work with the least impact to the public.
October 17: 101 Street S.W. Permanently Closed South of 17 Avenue S.W. & Traffic Shifted to New Roundabout
Traffic will be shifted to the new 101 Street S.W. alignment north of 17 Avenue S.W. and the new roundabout connecting Lower Springbank Road with Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W. At the same time, 101 Street S.W. will permanently close south of Township Road 242 / 17 Avenue S.W. Lower Springbank Road will remain as the permanent north-south connection in this location.
Emergency Access
Coordination with emergency responders is ongoing during construction and accommodations for emergency services are implemented as needed.
