Tree and Brush Clearing

Design for the South project has been ongoing since the contract was awarded in June 2020. The project footprint has been refined as the design has progressed. As a result, some trees and brush have been identified for removal within the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) and road right-of-way, south of Highway 8 and east of the Elbow River. The removals are required for highway and ditch backslopes, stormwater management facilities and utility installations. Clearing is expected to begin in late February.

All work will be completed in accordance with the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 and the Alberta Wildlife Act (GOA 2000).  Prior to removals proceeding, a biologist will survey the area for nesting birds and other animal habitats.

The work is expected to take approximately two weeks, until mid-March. Adjacent residents can expect increased noise and dust.

Further tree and brush removals are anticipated in this area. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
