Project Update – May 17, 2021
What’s Happening in Traffic This Week
Traffic Shift on Valley Ridge Boulevard N.W.
Later this week, both southbound and northbound traffic will be shifted to the outside lanes to accommodate median construction on Valley Ridge Boulevard N.W. Please use caution when driving in this area.
101 Street S.W. Single Lane Alternating Traffic
From May 17 to 25, 101 Street S.W., south of 1 Avenue S.W., will be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic. This lane closure is needed for utility work on the west side of the roadway.
All work is weather dependent. Please check 511 Albertaand The City of Calgary’s traffic information map for up-to-date information on traffic detours and speed reductions.
We appreciate your patience during construction.

West Valley Road S.W. Realignment
West Valley Road S.W. is being realigned to the south side of the businesses to make room for the new infrastructure. Construction on the new road is progressing quickly, but work on the connecting roads (109 Street S.W. and 1 Avenue S.W.) needs to be completed before moving traffic.

Lower Springbank Road S.W. Closure June 2021
In early June, Lower Springbank Road S.W. will be permanently closed between Slopeview Drive S.W. and 101 Street S.W. The north access to the Slopes community off of 17 Avenue S.W. will remain open. A paved service road within the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) will be constructed for emergency access.
Gravel Site Adjacent to West Springs
The gravel site located within the Transportation Utility Corridor (TUC) between Old Banff Coach Road S.W. and Bow Trail S.W. was mined and used for the gravel supply for the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR). Gravel removal was completed in Fall 2020 and the area is now being backfilled to the road grade in preparation for road construction.
